Sutton Mencap’s work with the Safer Sutton Partnership
Sutton Mencap has been carrying out a major programme of work aimed at improving the reporting of crime by people with a learning disability.
The project has brought together Sutton Mencap the Safer Sutton Partnership, Victim Support, Malookoo and Orchard Hill College. It comes to a head with 2 days of workshops at the life centre on 12th and 13th October during National Hate Crime Awareness Week. The project has also included the distribution of 10,000 support cards for disabled and vulnerable people, and delivery of 13 weeks of training to Sutton Police Officers, aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability. Sutton Mencap is now seeking to secure funding to continue the next stage of the project. Watch this space! |
